The key to a great shoot is for you to feel comfortable and proud of your hard work. We'll work together to ensure the best results for your photos. I'll guide you through the entire process from start to finish, so don't be nervous!
Around 25 years ago, Bob Kennedy and I developed approximately 500 different poses for fitness modelling. Believe it or not, we created them in his kitchen in Canada—it's a long story! These days, I run model seminars where I work with about 35 experienced models. Over three days, I teach essential posing techniques and modelling skills, finishing with a professional photo shoot. I also offer private training via video chat. That said, if you’re already investing in professional photography-especially if you're in great shape and spending the money—it's absolutely essential that you know what you're doing in front of the camera. For a fraction of my rate, you can learn directly from some of my top models. They charge about 50% of what I do, are incredibly friendly, and you’ll likely cross paths with them again on future shoots. Even better, they can work with you right at the photo shoot itself, so you'll get hands-on coaching while creating images that stand out. This small investment can make the difference between simply having pictures taken and producing magazine-quality images you can be proud of.
Try on outfits ahead of time to make sure they suit you. Shave or wax a few days before to avoid skin irritation. A fresh manicure is a bonus. If your skin is fair, go two shades darker than competition tan. Don't wash your hair the day before or the day of the shoot.
Wear a loose dress or robe to avoid marks on your skin. Do not wear anything tight, and skip deodorant, sunglasses, and hats. Bring wipes, a towel, something warm to wear, and easy walking shoes or flip flops. But always bring something easy to walk in as we never know whats going to happen
I offer a wide range of packages to suit everyone — from a beginner's package to a guaranteed cover shoot — each offering different experiences and prices.
My two most popular packages are:
A professional artist is recommended but not required. Sephora and Mac will do your makeup free with a $50 purchase. I also offer an option to add a makeup artist to your shoot — let me know if you need help.
Avoid over-the-top lashes; the natural look is preferred. Use waterproof makeup and avoid SPF products. Make sure powder is colored, not white. Use soft hold hairspray because strong wind can destroy styled hair quickly.
A tan about two shades lighter than competition tan looks best on camera. You should be dark, but not overly extreme.
It should match the color of your chest. A skilled makeup artist will know how to blend accordingly for best results.
Ask me directly-location matters. Instagram is a great place for outfit ideas. Bikinis for beach shoots are ideal. Bring clothes that flatter your physique and cut off all tags ahead of time.
Yes infortunately because time does not stop for any one. You're typically shoot maybe two looks in one hour. To make the most of your time, have your outfits organized and be ready to shoot when we meet.
Yes! Practice posing at home without a mirror so you learn to hold positions naturally. Try poses you see online. I'll show you options during the shoot, but your own creative energy is valuable too.
It depends on the area. When I travel, I may not know the location until the day before. Weather also plays a big role in finalizing the location.
Travel depends on the package you've booked. An extra fee may apply for longer distances. Just ask in advance.
In the fitness industry, perception is everything. The more high-profile you appear, the more clients will want to work with you. Shooting with me—and getting published—instantly elevates your credibility, sets you apart from other trainers, and puts you in front of an audience you wouldn't reach on your own. Think about it: you're already investing time and money to stay in great shape. For a little extra, you can market yourself like a pro, showcase your best look, and build your brand as the go-to trainer in your area. The result? More people talking about you, more recognition, and more clients.
I've seen it happen over and over. One of my clients, Denise Murphy, flies in from Ireland four times a year to shoot with me. Since we started working together, her business back home has exploded—and she's now recognized internationally as a fitness model. That kind of exposure is priceless. If you want to be the trainer everyone's talking about, this is how you make it happen.
Possibly, if my schedule allows. Keep in mind, your shoot time starts when we meet and driving time is included in that total.
Only if my schedule permits. If there's free time between clients, I'm happy to extend your session.
I'll do my best to find an alternate spot. This is rare, but we'll adapt if needed.
I monitor the forecast closely. If there's bad weather and I don't have an indoor backup, we may reschedule. Wind is unpredictable, so bring a hair tie just in case.
Not at all. I have sensitive eyes too. Looking toward the sun can be difficult. Bring sunglasses that match your look to help between shots.
Yes! Shoots take energy. Flexing and posing is a workout in itself. Bring water, snacks, and electrolytes to stay strong and focused.
Yes, I do mind. No alcohol is allowed. You need to be alert and responsible — I will not photograph you if you're drinking.
Try to arrive at least 15 minutes early. Use Google Maps ahead of time to factor in traffic.
If my schedule allows, I may be able to give you a ride. If it's out of the way or causes delays, there may be a fee. Otherwise, plan ahead with a friend, Uber, or Lyft.
Yes, and I prefer it! It’s great to have support. Just remind them to be quiet and respectful — backseat drivers aren't helpful.
I can take a couple of quick snapshots as a favor, but if I'm taking professional images of your partner, a session fee will apply.
I aim to deliver all photos within 96 hours. If I'm traveling and shooting multiple days, it may take a bit longer. You will receive every image taken, all technically correct and high-resolution.
Yes, absolutely! I only ask that you tag all three of my Instagram and Facebook accounts. For any commercial use beyond personal social media, my written permission is required and a usage fee may apply.
No. I do not retouch. I'm a photographer, not a digital editor. What you see is real.
Yes, background swaps are possible, but additional fees will apply. Just let me know what you need.
All sessions include expert posing guidance, natural light or studio lighting, and hundreds of images. Most packages also include guaranteed publication if you are A competitor and in peak condition and styled properly.
Visit the Booking page and submit your preferred date and location. A non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your session.
Yes! I offer both indoor studio sessions and outdoor sunrise/sunset shoots. You can even book multiple sessions over time if you choose a multi-shoot package.
To be considered for publication, you must be tanned, fit, and styled to match a professional editorial standard. Hair and makeup artists are available for an additional fee.
Yes. Retouched images are available for $50 each. You'll also receive all unretouched high-res JPGs as part of most packages.
Yes — most packages include guaranteed publication in one of the many magazines I work with, as long as you have competed, are dark tanned, in peak shape, and work with me. At this moment in time, I can guarantee publication.
Covers are not guaranteed unless specifically booked as a cover session or arranged directly with the magazine itself. I cannot guarantee how many pages you will receive, which pages you will appear on, the size of your photos, or their placement, as I do not own the magazines — I am their chief photographer. With over 30 years in the business, I know everyone worth knowing in this industry, and my connections help ensure the best possible opportunities for my clients.
Deposits are non-refundable. However, you may reschedule your shoot with reasonable advance notice. International shoots are much harder to cancel or change, as I only take a limited number of clients and invest a significant amount of money in advance.
>Changing, rescheduling, or postponing your shoot does not guarantee the same price — rates may change substantially, so be prepared for that. Your deposit secures your spot in the photoshoot, not the price. If two years pass without you rebooking, your deposit is automatically forfeited.
